Columbus Real Estate
Columbus is a sprawling metropolis to put it mildly. The total land area of Columbus is 210 square miles, and contains over 12,891 acres of city-owned parks. Columbus also has the highest population (2012 population estimate (rank):809,798 ) of any city in Ohio, and is the 15th largest metropolitan area in the country.
Between all the diverse downtown neighborhoods, quaint suburbs, and our beloved Buckeyes, this city truly has something to offer everyone.
Downtown – Columbus’s Evolution
Columbus’s downtown is a mixture of small neighborhoods, art districts, The Ohio State University campus, high rise buildings, the state capital, and four major sports venues. The now infamous Short North hosts monthly gallery hops and an amazing restaurant scene.
Whether you are a downtown resident living in the many lofts, or are downtown for work or leisure, a short trip to the North Market in the Arena District is truly a hidden treasure. The market offers curiosity shops, a variety of foods to anyone’s liking, wine festivals, an outdoor patio for dining, and plenty of desserts & other delicatessens.
Columbus Downtown has been growing and changing rapidly over the past decade. There are many more condos Downtown than ever before. These condos are often very unique, as many of the units have been converted from other types of business spaces– often factory, warehouse, and office buildings and quite a few new builds. This conversion creates extraordinary living options. High-end finishes and excellent locations to all the downtown area has to offer are one of a kind, and this distinctive difference is what attracts most buyers to the area.
Neighborhoods and Areas Galore
Columbus offers a neighborhood for every type of homeowner. Explore both Victorian and craftsman architecture offered in the Victorian Village and Harrison West neighborhoods with its quiet streets, neighborhood restaurants and close proximity to both the Short North and the Arena District. To the South, German Village offers some of Columbus’s oldest and most impressive homes, parks, and churches, but also has a one of a kind feel. West Columbus features two of the great “original Columbus suburbs” in Upper Arlington and Grandview Heights, both have trendy restaurants, and a unique feel. Head North and you’ll find The Ohio State University and Clintonville offering academic appeal, nice neighborhood, and much more. Heading to the East part of Columbus you’ll find the beautiful town of Bexley and some emerging neighborhoods like Olde Towne East.
One of a Kind Choices for Every Lifestyle
Columbus offers activities for those that are eager to be out and about as well as for those that love a good book and a glass of wine. Columbus is said to have more fast food restaurants per capita than any other city and is the home of Wendys. However, don’t let that fool you, Columbus also has some of the finest dining options in the midwest.
You’ll have no problem finding a coffee shop, an independent bookstore, or a fun dive bar. Walking trails and parks are scattered throughout the city. Don’t miss the Olentangy Trail, the Columbus Park of Roses, or Glen Echo Ravine. There is also always a sporting event to enjoy between the Buckeyes, Blue Jackets, Crew, and Clippers. You can also enjoy a skyline view while you take in a concert at the LC pavilion in the Arena District.
Columbus is becoming more and more of a commute-friendly city with bike lanes designated throughout the metropolitan area, Cotas Cbus (offering free rides from German Village to the Short North), Cars2Go, and state-of-the-art car share programs.
